Texans love to help Texans. In 1994 the Texas legislature established HB No. 1407, establishing the State Employee Charitable Campaign. This initiative created a direct way for state employees to help their fellow citizens by donating to local Texas charities.
The University of Texas refers to the program as Hearts of Texas--a way for Longhorns to create a better Texas by helping others. Since the beginning of the campaign, UT has raised over $14 million for charities in Central Texas and beyond.
This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of this important campaign! During the month of October, you have the opportunity to be a part of the Hearts of Texas tradition. There are over 500 approved organizations to choose from, each providing remarkable services to communities throughout the state. Our donations ensure that local charities receive the resources that provide valuable services for those in need.
Please join me in making the 2024 Hearts of Texas charitable campaign a meaningful celebration of service. I invite you to be a part of the impactful work that is happening around us. By giving together--even if it is just a small amount--we can share our Longhorn generosity with our community.
