Where can I find my insurance information?
How do I get my insurance card?
Why do I not have insurance?
  • If you are a new employee, please ensure your onboarding is complete and you have waited one business day before contacting the HRSC for assistance.
  • If you are not a new employee and you do not have insurance, please contact the Human Resources Service Center with your full name and EID. 
     
What documents can I use for proof of coverage?
  • If you require proof of coverage to add your dependent, required documents may vary depending on the dependent. See the list of required documents.
Why wasn’t my life change document approved?
  • Please refer to the list of Evidence of Eligibility documentation and ensure that your documentation aligns with the required evidence. 
  • If you are experiencing a loss or gain of coverage, please provide your employer letterhead or insurance company letterhead. It must explicitly state:
    • The name of the person or people that are losing or gaining coverage by full name
    • Specify what kind of coverage is being lost (e.g. medical, dental, and/or vision)
    • Specify termination date of the coverage or coverages.
    • If your document has all 3 requirements and is still denied, please reach out to the HRSC for assistance.

When am I eligible to retire?
  • Retirement eligibility can vary depending on many factors. For a complete walkthrough guide to Retirement with UT Austin, please review the Preparing for Retirement Journey in Workday. To access the Journey:
    • Log in to Workday, select Personal on the left side of the home page, then Journeys
    • Click Preview Journey for Preparing for Retirement Part 1 (Pre-Retirement Steps). 
    • Follow through all phases of Retirement, including Preparing for Retirement Part 2 (Post-Retirement Steps).

Where can I view my TRS contributions?
  • Please visit the TRS Benefits Webpage for information on how to register for MyTRS. Once you’ve registered, you can view your annual statements and contributions. 
How do I enroll in a voluntary retirement program?
  • You can enroll in any voluntary retirement program through Corebridge Financial’s UT Retirement Manager
    • Review the Voluntary Retirement Programs at a Glance brochure.
    • Choose one or more financial providers from the list of approved providers.
    • Open an account with the provider(s) selected. For assistance, please contact the local representative(s) for the provider(s).
    • Log into UT Retirement Manager, choose TSA or DCP, and follow the prompts to set up the contributions from eligible pay.
    • Log into your retirement provider’s website and choose which funds you would like your money invested in.
       
  • Establish a new contribution to one of our 5 financial providers before the 14th of the month and that contribution will be deducted from your next paycheck. 
    • For example: If you make the selection to contribute $15 to an approved provider before January 14, the contribution will appear on your February 1 paycheck. If you make the selection after January 14, the contribution will appear on the March 1 paycheck. 
How do I get help with my voluntary retirement accounts?

  • For issues with signing forms relating to your TSA or DCP accounts, needing financial advice, or needing assistance deciding on a plan, please contact the UT Austin representative for your financial provider
I'm eligible for ORP. How do I enroll?
  • Employees in jobs eligible to elect ORP in lieu of TRS will receive an eligibility notice via email within one to three weeks of their initial eligibility date. Employees who wish to enroll in the ORP will then have until the 90th day following their date of hire or eligibility to complete the enrollment steps found on the Optional Retirement Program page.
  • If you've been informed that you are eligible for ORP but you did not receive an enrollment email, or for any other questions regarding ORP enrollment, please contact the Human Resources Service Center
What is Family Medical Leave (FMLA)?
  • The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a benefit that provides eligible employees up to 12 workweeks of unpaid leave a year and requires group health benefits to be maintained during the leave as if employees continued to work instead of taking leave. Employees are also entitled to return to their same or an equivalent job at the end of their Family and Medical Leave (FML).
Am I eligible for FMLA?

To be eligible for FMLA, you must have:

  1. A qualifying reason
    1. A serious health condition that makes you unable to perform the functions of your job.
    2. The birth of a child and to bond with the newborn child within one year of birth.
    3. The placement of a child for adoption or foster care, and to bond with the newly placed child within one year of placement.
    4. To care for your spouse, child (including biological, adopted, foster, step, legal wards, and children for whom you stand in loco parentis), or parent who has a serious health condition.
    5. Any qualifying exigency arising out of the fact that your spouse, child, or parent is a military member on covered active duty.
    6. To care for a service member with a a serious injury or illness if the employee is the spouse, child, parent, or next of kin of the service member.
  2. You must have worked for the university or another State of Texas agency for at least 12 months; and
  3. You must have worked at least 1,250 hours in the 12-month period immediately preceding the leave.

How do I apply for FMLA?
  • To request FMLA, you must complete an Employee Request for Family and Medical Leave (Online) 30 to 45 days prior to the date you need your leave to begin
    • Leave Management will contact you with your Notice of Eligibility and Rights and Responsibilities. After requesting FMLA, you must complete the following steps within 15 days of receiving your notice:
      • Ensure your timesheets are accurate and up to date.
      • Submit a completed Certification of Healthcare Provider - Employee form (if your leave is for your own condition).
      • Submit a completed Certification of Healthcare Provider - Care for Family Member form (if for your family member’s condition).
      • For qualifying exigencies, submit a Certification for Military Family Leave (if for Military Family Leave)
      • Submit a Certification for Serious Injury or Illness of a Current Servicemember (if for Military Caregiver leave).
      • Submit a Certification for Serious Injury or Illness of a Veteran (if for veteran care).

How do I use FMLA on my timesheets?
  • If you are on FMLA for any reason other than a work-related illness or injury, then you will be required to use your available paid time off accruals (sick, vacation, holiday, and compensatory time) concurrently with your FMLA leave. Please keep in mind that sick time off may only be used concurrently with FMLA leave if your need for leave is due to pregnancy, your own serious health condition, or the serious health condition of a spouse, child, or parent.
  • If you have any questions regarding using FMLA on your timesheets, please contact your Departmental HR. If you do not know who that is, contact your supervisor and they will be able to assist. 
What is the status of my FMLA request?
  • Within 5 days of submitting your request, you will receive your FMLA packet. Once your certifications and documentation are received, please wait at least 3-5 business before following up on the status.
