National Student Employee Appreciation Week: April 8 – 12, 2024
The National Student Employment Association (NSEA) designates one week each year for universities and colleges across the country to recognize the substantial contributions of students who work on campus.
Here at UT Austin, over 11,000 students are employed by the university, playing a key role in our educational, research, and operational excellence. Student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative. At the same time, they develop important skills and experience.
The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs partners with Human Resources in sponsoring National Student Employee Appreciation Week activities. In addition, all schools, colleges, and departments in the university are encouraged to take the opportunity during National Student Employee Appreciation Week, and throughout the year, to thank their student employees and let them know that their efforts are valued. Please download our tips on ways to recognize your student employees(PDF). A template for a Certificate of Appreciation (PDF) is also available for your use.
President’s Student Employee of the Year Award
A highlight of National Student Employee Appreciation Week is the culmination of the annual competition for the President’s Student Employee of the Year Award. The award is sponsored by the Office of the President, in conjunction with the President’s Staff Awards. In addition, the winner, finalists, and nominees for the award are celebrated at an event sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
