In addition to your base pay, you may be eligible for various types of premium pay, depending on your position.
Benefit Replacement Pay
Benefit Replacement Pay (BRP) replaces the defunct state-paid FICA benefit.
You are eligible for BRP if you were a state employee on August 31, 1995. The amount of BRP you're eligible to receive is based on what your salary was on October 31, 1995 and whether you participate in the Teacher Retirement System or Optional Retirement Program.
You are not eligible for BRP if you had a break in state service for more than 12 months between August 31, 1995, and September 1, 2005, or a break in state service of 30 days or more after September 1, 2005.
Hazardous Duty Pay
If you are a commissioned law enforcement employee, you are eligible for hazardous duty pay after completing 12 months of service. Hazardous duty pay begins on the first day of the month following the twelfth month and increases after completion of each 12 months of service. If you are appointed less than full-time, you will be granted hazardous duty pay based on the percentage of hours you are appointed.

Longevity Pay
You are eligible for longevity pay if:
- you are appointed full-time on the first workday of the month
- you are not on leave without pay on the first workday of the month
- you have earned at least two years of state service by the last day of the previous month
If you are law enforcement staff, and are eligible for hazardous duty pay, you will get longevity pay based only on state service earned in non-hazardous duty positions. Faculty, student employees, and temporary employees do not receive longevity pay.

State of Texas Retirees
If you retired from a State of Texas agency after June 1, 2005, you are not eligible for longevity pay. If you retired before June 1, 2005 and returned to work before September 1, 2005, you are eligible for longevity pay, but the monthly amount will be frozen at the amount you were earning at the time you retired. If you were not earning longevity at the time of retirement, you are not eligible for longevity as a working retiree.
