Debate: Net Zero by 2050 is Both Achievable and Necessary to Address Climate Change

The Salem Center in collaboration with the Steamboat Institute invites you to a debate on the resolution: “Net Zero by 2050 is Both Achievable and Necessary to Address Climate Change” The Debate features two top experts in the field, Steven Koonin, and Daniel Schrag. Dr. Koonin is a theoretical physicist and has served as Undersecretary for Science in the US Department of Energy under President Obama, where he was the lead author of the Department’s Strategic Plan and the inaugural Quadrennial Technology Review (2011). He is also the author of the book Unsettled: What Climate Science Tells Us, What It Doesn’t, and Why It Matters. Dr. Schrag is a Professor of Geology at Harvard University. He studies climate science and Earth’s history. From 2009-2017, Schrag served on President Obama’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
