For the fifth year in a row, The University of Texas at Austin has been named by Forbes as one of the best large employers in the United States for 2024. The university received similar recognition in prior years.
In 2024, UT Austin placed in the top 15 among Texas employers and came in the top 30 for higher education institutions on Forbes’s 2024 list of America's Best Large Employers. With more than 21,000 employees in nearly every area of expertise, the university is among the largest organizations to make the list.
This achievement marks another step toward UT Austin’s aspirations of becoming the highest-impact public research university in the world. The university seeks to provide employees with a work environment where everyone is inspired, supported, and valued, while also being given a chance to make a difference and advance in their careers.
Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to compile its list by surveying workers at large companies and institutions—those with more than 5,000 employees—from across the United States. Survey participants were asked and answered anonymously whether they would recommend their current employer to those they know. Other questions asked covered a range of work-related topics, such as working conditions, salary, potential for development, and company image.
UT Austin joins H-E-B, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dell Technologies, Indeed, and 40 other notable large Texas-based employers on the top 400 list. Find out more about working at The University of Texas at Austin.
