Complete Your Annual Preventive Care Exam

Annual preventive care exams can help identify health concerns early, support your overall well-being, and give you a chance to talk with a provider about your health goals.

When completed as an annual preventive exam, the visit is available at no cost under UT SELECT.

Step One: Schedule Your Annual Preventive Care Exam

Make an appointment with your primary care provider or get help to find one through UT SELECT Concierge.

Step Two: Confirm Your Visit is Coded as Preventive

To count toward the Preventive Care Incentive Program, your visit must be submitted by your provider as an annual preventive care exam or wellness visit. This is usually your yearly checkup, annual physical, or well-woman exam. When scheduling your appointment, ask for an “annual preventive care exam” or “wellness visit.” This helps make sure the visit is submitted correctly.

If you use a BCBSTX network provider, the provider will submit the claim and no additional action is required once the claim is processed.

You do not need to know the medical billing codes, but it is important that your provider understands that the visit should be submitted as preventive care. If you want, you can download current CPT codes to take to your provider and ensure they code it correctly.

Step Three: Complete Your Exam by the Deadline

Complete your annual preventive exam by February 28, 2027 to avoid the premium differential beginning in May 2027.
